I started out riding bikes when the MTB craze was booming in the early '90s. My first ride was a Shogun Prairie Breaker, which was upgraded to a Trek 970 after many, many kilometres of off-road exploring the vast expanses of fire trails around the Blue Mountains and surrounding wilderness. I discovered my passion for on- and off-road cycle touring, and have completed several epic tours including a cycle trip to the top of Australia; Cape York in 1999, a 5 month long New Zealand cycling Odyssey in 2000 and cycle touring the Alaskan Backcountry in 2005. Currently planning my next tour of Washington State, USA, for some time soon, legs willing! My bike collection at the moment includes a custom frame Thorn touring bike, a Surly Cross-Check commuter and a Soma Groove MTB. I am also in the process of building up a Salsa Fargo 29er for something different! |
